Like bubbles of air

The first difficulty one has when meeting a new client is explaining coaching. Every corporate person believes they know what it is. Few actually have an idea. You can easily understand when they tell you "oh yes, of course, I have been mentoring people a lot. And I have been a coachee, too, although I never coached anyone". The mere fact that people believe it is possible to coach people without having spent large amount of time and money and energy to study how to do it is very telling. So let's assume that people do not know what coaching is. So, how do you eplain it?
One image that comes to mind is that of bubbles raising from the depths o the sea. At certain points in our lives and careers, we find ourselves moving through an inner twilight, far from the noise of the surface. Doubts, pressures and unexpressed potential surround us. Here, the coach is neither a rescuer diving down to save us nor a navigator providing a predetermined route. Coaching offers no instructions from above and no shortcut back to the surface.
Instead, it creates the space to look into our own depths and recognise the resources that are already there. and help you free bubbles of self awareness.
The journey upward is rarely linear. It unfolds in cycles and spirals, much likeair bubbles turning and gathering momentum before rising. and the nearer they are to the surface , the quicker they raise. We return to experiences, questions and assumptions, but each time from a new perspective. And gradually, but steadily, bubbles of awareness begin to emerge: small insights, forgotten strengths, self-imposed boundaries recognised and released, deeper truths about who we are and what we are capable of becoming.
These insights are not given to us. They arise from within.
As they rise, expand and connect, the surrounding waters become clearer. Pressure begins to ease. Our perspective widens. We learn to move with our own currents rather than struggle against them, transforming turbulence into purposeful energy.
Coaching accompanies this movement. It supports us in shaping goals that are not simply responses to external expectations, but authentic and challenging possibilities rooted in who we are.
This is not about adapting to the surface. It is about claiming it.
Gradually, fear of the unknown gives way to the desire to expand. Authenticity becomes a compass and change becomes not a threat, but a natural condition for growth. Every reflection, every new breath gained during the ascent, strengthens a freedom that comes from within.
